Seaport Village is proud to host numerous Artist in Residence programs. From award-winning installations like Oslo Sardine Bar to working artist studios developed in partnership with Bread and Salt, La Bodega Gallery and the New Children’s Museum, along with local artists, Marisa Holmes & Jessica Ling Findley, Seaport Village is a budding hub for arts and culture on the waterfront.

Located within Seaport Village’s Lighthouse District, Studio by the Bay offers visitors the chance to interact with and learn from two local artists-in-residence, Kurosh  Yahyai, and Matt Picon.

  • KUROSH YAHYAI | A Master of Fine Arts recipient from San Diego State University, Kurosh Yahyai’s body of work focuses on the idea of the self, expressed through the traditional style of oil painting with a contemporary approach.
  • MATT PICON | Located within Seaport Village’s Lighthouse District, Studio by the Bay offers visitors the chance to interact with and learn from two local artists-in-residence, Kurosh Yahyai , and Matt Picon.

Jessica Ling Findley Studio

Jessica Ling Findley Studio

Jessica Ling Findley is an artist, musician, designer and professor with roots spanning from Omaha to Hong Kong. Her work imagines the impossible, plays with perspective, blurring the line between spectator and participant. She received Masters from ITP, Tisch School of the Arts where she studied the intersection of art and technology. Her public participatory inflatable bike ride, Aeolian Ride toured over 20 cities around the world. Past exhibitions and awards include: Dublin Museum of Science, New Museum, Issue Project Room, and Deitch Art Parade in NY, Tokyo Wondersite Residency. She recently received a commission for a public participatory work of art from the Port of San Diego for 2019. “Endangered Landscapes” stereo prints and paintings of habitats at risk due to climate change which is showing at the San Diego Institute for the Arts in February 2019.

Bread & Salt is an experimental center for the arts with strong community ties. It hosts works by San Diego artists and serves as a gathering spot for the creative community. Their newest Artist in Residency Studio is located in the Seaport Village Lighthouse District. Griselda Rosas is the current artist in residence.

Formerly housed in the “This is not an exit” gallery at Bread and Salt, this pop-up experiential art performance, was created by Max Robert Daily and is now on display at Seaport Village!
