Your Guide to the 2012 Busker Festival
Our 2012 Spring Busker Festival is THIS WEEKEND! There will be a whole lot to do and see so I thought a blog post with the essentials on the festival was a must! After all, I am Boardwalk Betty, and who has the inside scoop more than me? Nobody, that's who!
So let's get started. When you arrive the first thing you are going to do is park.
Parking & Shuttle
Parking- I suggest to arrive early. The lot fills up quickly! If you do park in the Seaport Village lot the parking rates are first 2 hours are $1 with purchase validation and then $4 an hour after that.
Shuttle- If the lot is full we are offering a free shuttle from the County Administration Building (located on Pacific Highway & Ash). It cost $10 to park there all day. The shuttle will run (for free) every 15 minutes until 6 pm. The shuttle stop will be marked with an umbrella and signage.
After you arrive, it is time to find the busker acts!

Performance Areas & Busker Acts
Performance areas- We have ten talented buskers scheduled to perform at the 2012 Spring Busker Festival. Their acts will include fire stunts, awe-inspiring juggling, incredible balancing acts and of course, comedy. An in depth look at each busker & their performance times can be found here.
Performances will take place at the top of every hour starting at noon in the West Plaza Fountain Area and every half hour starting at 12:30 in the East Plaza Gazebo. Buskers will also be performing, outside of their main performance times, in other parts of the Village, so essentially every corner will have a busker act performing. Outside of the 10 competeing Buskers there will be 4 other smaller acts complimenting the already jam-packed festival!
When you arrive I suggest tracking down a day of flyer that will give you the scoop on the weekends activities. Flyers can be found near the directories and at the two white tents located at each main peformance stage.
What are they competing for?
GOOD QUESTION! They are competing for a People's Choice Award. The busker who wins the People's Choice Award will get a $500 travel voucher so that they can bring their act on the road. We are trying to spread the busking love. You can vote for your favorite busker at one of the two voting booths (marked by white tents) next to each of the main peformance areas.
Bottom line though, they are performing for your tips. Busking is an art form. They make a living traveling around, pouring their heart & soul into their act. They deserved to be tipped! So be sure to bring some cash. The Buskers will appreciate it.
What is in it for you?
Another great question! Besides the fun, there will be plenty of giveaways. The stores and restaurants have donated gift certificates to be given away between each busker act. Be on the lookout for the event emcee, he will be giving away the prizes!
Also, if you vote for your favorite busker at one of the voting booths (marked by white tents) next to each of the main performance areas you will be entered to win a $100 Seaport Village gift certificate which is valid at all the stores & restuarants in Seaport Village!
KYXY will be onsite giving away prizes. Also, be sure to check in on facebook for a great gift certificate incentive.
Buskers After Dark
On Saturday, March 24th come to Buskers After Dark for the risque side of Seaport Village. $1 beers until the kegs run dry & food specials if you RSVP here. 6 to 10 p.m. in the Food Court, 18+ please. Free entrance, buskers will be accepting tips. There will also be a DJ between each busker act. This is my favorite part of Busker Festival! (if you are 18+ mind you!)

Busker Festival LOVES Facebook
Our 2012 Spring Busker Festival is THIS WEEKEND! The excitement is building here in the Village, I can feel it.
Not only will there be great performers but there will be giveaways from the stores and restaurants in between each busker performance.
