Seaport Village is a proud supporter and planner of the 2013 Whale Days Festival!
WHAT YOU'LL SEE at the Big Bay Whale Festival
Yes it's FREE! There's something for everyone and it's loaded with live entertainment! The 5th Annual San Diego Big Bay Whale Festival will be held at the Port Pavilion on the Broadway Pier on Saturday, January 26, 2013. The free Whale Festival is a family community event offering a wide variety of interactive and hands on displays to spark the interest and imagination of any child including a walk-through gray whale, live sea creatures, free face painting, a kids art mural coloring project and a giant inflated obstacle course, a trackless train and a bounce house. Enjoy live music on the "Whale of a stage" featuring returning festival favorite, "James Gibson Band" and newcomers "Moon Dog", from Phoenix, AZ and "Velvet Cafe" from SD, CA. Meet "Captain Sam Diego" and enjoy a performance from "Flamenco with Roots" a youth dance group who performed in 2012 and thrilled the crowds.
We are excited to be at this year's festival. And yes, we will be handing out pirate hats again!

Ruocco Park Now Open!
If you have been to Seaport Village in the past year you have seen the construction. Oh the construction! I am happy to say that the construction that was happening right outside of our Pacific Highway entrance is now finished. And that construction has paid off. Let me introduce you to Ruocco Park!
According to The Port of San Diego's website:
Ruocco Park will serve as an interactive public space that integrates the use of hardscape, ornamental horticulture and art for the benefit of the public to gather, view, and enjoy the waterfront and skyline of San Diego. It is funded through a unique public-private partnership, with funds provided by the Port and the Lloyd and Ilse Ruocco Fund administered by The San Diego Foundation.
And let me tell you. It is gorgeous.

Pictures really don't do it justice. You need to come down and see it for yourself. Thank you Port of San Diego for allowing such a beautiful park to be built right at our entryway! I hope lots of fun picnics and memorable gatherings occur there. Say, why don't you come down and make that happen?
