Take a look at this-

Steve Baron Art Show

Breathtaking, isn't it?  It is an original piece by Steve Barton.  His art is on display at our very own Exclusive Collections Gallery, here in Seaport Village.  They are known for putting on great events that combine art, culture and everything in between.

This weekend, May 4th & 5th 2012, they will be putting on Living The Good Life With Steve Barton.

Here is what they have to say about it:

Spring into the good life! Exclusive Collections Galleries (EC Galleries) artist Steve Barton returns once again to Seaport Village for an exciting spring show featuring all new original oil paintings depicting the best of California's pastoral beauty.

"Known for this strong brush strokes, rich textures, and vibrant colors, Steve Barton brings a sense of joy and peace to each of his paintings; every piece speaks of a life lived to the fullest.  His paintings bring you to tranquil and seductive locales that reflect his engaging personality.  Barton's love of his work comes through in each of his creations, from the canvas to the frame."

Mile of Music On The Big Bay

Share

Hey-yo! Fun event happening tomorrow.  Have you heard?  Mile of Music is coming to the Embarcadero.

Mile of Music

This is what the event site has to say about it:

The downtown waterfront will be alive with the sound of music this Saturday, April 14, 2012. And you can enjoy it all for free — courtesy of the Port of San Diego.

Some 30 musical groups, including singers and songwriters, will play jazz, rumba and flamenco, folk rock and bluegrass in seven locations along San Diego's North Embarcadero in the "Mile of Music."

The event on San Diego's waterfront will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. along North Harbor Drive -- from Grape Street south to Tuna Harbor Park, just south of the USS Midway Museum.

The eclectic mix of performers should satisfy most any musical preference.

Check out the map of the event!

Mile of Music

Rumor has it there will be great deals at all the Embarcadero businesses- Midway, Maritime Museum, Anthony's, Hornblower, Flagship Cruises & US!

After you check out some tunes, come and have lunch at Seaport.  Or get crazy, and shop!  The Mile of Music will be ending at our front door step.  See you tomorow!

One Day Without Shoes

Share

What is One Day Without Shoes?  According to their website:

The day we spread awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life by taking off our own. Why? Millions of children live without proper footwear, exposing them to injury and disease every day.

At their website you can also...

  • Learn why shoes are needed by millions
  • Spread the word outside & online
  • Get the app to make your custom one day pic and more

So why am I blogging about this day?  Because our very own Urban Girl Accessories is partnering up with TOMS and Together for Charity to put on a walk here at Seaport Village on One Day Without Shoes, 4/10/12.

One Day Without Shoes

How do Urban Girl Accessories, TOMS & Together for Charity fit together?  I will let Maria Hussong, from Together for Charity, explain:

I am part of a charity called TOGETHER FOR CHARITY. It is a San Diego based charity helping an orphanage in Tijuana maintain itself. We are an organization that are actively involved in the lives of these 40 orphans and our goal is to not only help these children survive but succeed!

To help get more exposure, we joined TOMS Barefoot Challenge. This is the competition of One Day Without Shoes which is going to be on April 10th. The contest consists of the group with the most pledges  wins a speaking engagement with Blake Mycoskie, the founder of TOMS. This would be monumental for Together for Charity (TFC). The pledging is from March 1st to April 10. It is very easy to pledge. The response that TFC has gotten in these two weeks has been amazing. We are in first place, with more than 800 pledges. We are already seeing the ripple affect of this contest, people that had never heard of TFC have gotten on the website and donated. We still have 26 more days to go. And need all the support we can get.

TO PLEDGE:
2. box where it says your company name you put: TOGETHER FOR CHARITY
3. box where it says your company e mail you put: YOUR EMAIL
4. where it says event : not now (someone added an event by mistake)

Along these lines we want to have a walk on April 10th and Annie (owner of Urban Girl Accessories) had the great idea of having it in Seaport Village. It would be awesome!

Indeed, Maria, it would be awesome!
